WWE’s Untold Tales from the Mean Street Posse
What’s good, everybody! Welcome to this week’s episode of “Behind the Turnbuckle.” We’re excited to have a very special guest on the show today—someone we’ve known for ages and who has made quite the impact in the world of wrestling. Joining us is none other than Pete Gas from the legendary Mean Street Posse!
A Journey Down Memory Lane with Pete Gas
Let’s rewind and talk about the good old days when Pete Gas and his mean crew ruled the squared circle. It’s a pleasure having him on the show, reliving those moments and catching up after so long.
“I called Tommy about six months ago. I said, Tommy, we got to create a scenario where we can bring all of our old friends back. Some new wrestlers, some new talent, behind the scenes people. Everybody deserves to tell their stories. And that’s what we’re all about.”
Pete’s enthusiasm for storytelling is infectious, and we’re here to dive deep into those tales that fans of the Mean Street Posse have longed to hear.
Life After Wrestling
One of the burning questions we always wanted to ask Pete was whether he misses the wrestling world. His response was heartfelt:
“Do you miss the wrestling business at all? I do miss it. I do miss it. I remember when I first got released, it was like a blow to me. It was like a, a shock to my system. I loved it so much and I mean, heck, if they called me today, I probably couldn’t perform, but I’d try.”
The wrestling business leaves a significant imprint on those involved. For Pete, it was more than just a career; it was a lifestyle filled with camaraderie and passion.
The Evolution of Wrestling Memorabilia
In our conversation, a fascinating topic that came up was the evolution of wrestling memorabilia. Pete reminisces about a time when not everyone had action figures and merchandise deals like today:
“Back when Rodney and I first started, not everybody had action figures, not everybody had T-shirts and stuff like that…We were in a couple of video games after a while, but other than that, we didn’t have.”
Today, there’s a massive market for wrestling collectibles, from action figures to video games and beyond. It’s a testament to how much the industry has grown and how much fans cherish these items.
- Action Figures
- Video Games
- T-Shirts and Apparel
If the opportunity arose, Pete says he’d sign on for a Legends deal without hesitation:
“If they called you for one of those, you’d sign on the dotted line in a heartbeat. In a heartbeat.”
Looking Back and Moving Forward
The sentimental journey with Pete Gas reminds us of the lasting impact of wrestling on its athletes and fans alike. These stories are not merely chapters of the past; they are ongoing narratives that continue to evolve with every conversation and every reunion.
It’s about honoring the legacy of those who came before and highlighting the new talents making their mark today.
